Can a landlord evict a paying tenant?

My mom pays rent for a Queens, NY every month on time. The landlord did not give her a lease but she was told that the rent was $1400 and she paid just that. The only thing he has fixed was the water leakage in the bathroom when she first moved in. He refuses to fix the leaks in the house because it snows a lot where I live and he does not provide a doorbell. The bell all of a sudden stopped working after she moved in. He claims that the bell with and without the intercom is get this... $6000! No bell is worth that much. The fridge leaks and water seeps in through the window when it rains and snows. He has security and his rent payments every month and my mom got fed up and asked him to fix the defects in the apartment and he told her that he was gonna get a lawyer to send out a letter to her for her to leave because he doesn't want to fix anything. He does not provide heat meaning the heater doesn't get hot and the apartment is freezing cold in the winter. He does not pay water, gas, or garbage pick up. On top of that he said he wanted to increase the rent by $200. there anything she can do? Does he have the right to kick her out even though she pays rent on time every month?

I need to add chords to my melody to harmonize it????? HELP PLEASE?

Ok a have a melody in C major. I have chords written out and I want to harmonize my melody using C F G chords but I dont really know how to add these to the notes I have in my melody. For instance my first note is G as a 8th note and then an A as an 8th note then goes on to C G A to finish up my first bar....also sorry i cant be technically correct but the first four notes arent on the ledger lines they are like an octave below them or something and then the last A jumps up to the ledger lines..this is 4/4 in treble.... Do I like find the chords the fit with the notes in my melody and then just add them all together to harmonize? I want to know how to write this out on though so like if I have note of g as my first do i write an e and c below it? like do they have to stay in order or a b and d above it? like does the G have to stay as the note below the other two and the others build up above it??? i know im rambling but i just dont understand

Why do people ask a question and then delete it a few minutes later?

In a lot of cases, especially if the person asked a chat question, it was probably reported. Hence the question is no longer there. However, if I have done some research and the question appears to be legitimate and there seems to be no reason for its deletion, I will e-mail my answer to the person if he or she permits e-mails with a little comment that I thought they might want to take a look at my answer. Most often I do not get a response but still I at least get the satisfaction that after the effort put into my answer, the person will get to see it.

keep an eye on byrnes and willingham, both have started the season off well, but have been taking a lot of days off recently for soreness and to help prevent any major injuries. i dont see damon having a great year, and with byrnes and willingham trying to prevent injuries you may want to get a better outfielder. Cueto had trouble the other night and while I don't think he should be written off just yet, it does seem likely that as more people see him pitch he is going to have tougher outings until he matures some more. you could try and sell high with him as there is still a lot of hype surrounding him and you have santana, beckett, volquez, and scherzer (was anybody drafting pitchers?) to fall back on. definitely focus on making some high end trades for good bats with some of the pitchers you have, but with a 10 man league you may not be deep enough that you cant just pick up some free agents and if it doesnt work out just keep looking out for replacements.

Too many people get divorced over so many petty things. They had rather just give up and go on than to stand for the marriage and do what ever it takes to save it. Well JC it seems as if you have a big mix of a lot of cards i would just build a deck that uses mostly Level 4 monster that has the most attacks. Use about 16-18 lv 4 monsters with 1600-2000 atk and mix in 1 level 7-9 and 2 lv 6-5 monsters or three Lv 6-5 monsters. This way you will get a feel on what cards you should use. For the spells use 10 - 14 of the ones that controle / destroy your opponents monsters or ones that raise your monsters attack. For the traps use 5-8 that destroy/ weaken/ or stop your opponents monsters. Make sure your deck is around 40-43 cards thats what the best use. If that dont help just go buy a new starter deck from wal-mart "Zombie world" pre made deck that comes with 40 cards only 10 bucks.

Anyhow, I had a little group of friends that i hung out with and I was really loving school. My parents decided to move to a differant city. My new school I was a loner. I ate lunch alone and sat by myelf EVERYDAY. As time went by I ended up having tons of friends and It turned out alright. My winter formal picture had 18 people In It for petes sake! I couldn't believe It me?? the loner had friends. One tip...Talk to people, be friendly DO NOT be shy. I was like that and I realized later on In life as a adult that there Is no reason to be scared or nervous about talking to another human being. When you near time to deliver, you'll be having check ups like this and when you do deliver, I imagine he'll be right there...it will probably help him get used to the procedures and become more comfortable with everything. Windows Zero Config mysteriously switches from WPA to WEP?

Switched wireless router network from WEP to WPA-PSK. Two computers can connect to the network fine, but one is having trouble. Whenever I set up the network as a WPA-PSK on that computer and try to connect, Windows Zero Configuration fails to connect and switches the network's settings back to WEP. I've updated the wireless card's (Dynex Wireless G for desktop) drivers and am using Windows XP with service pack 2. The Dynex card is supposed to support WPA and WPA2. Is it okay to leave an External hard drive plugged into a desktop computer all the time?

Okay, now I know this may sound stupid to all the computer geeks out there but I just bought an external hard drive that pluggs into your comp, and I was wondering...if I planned on leaving it in all the time and rarely taking the cord of of the USB holder thing, would that be okay? Sorry, I know it must sound like a stupid question, but I don't know that much about the inner (or..outer?)-workings of computers...Lol. So please just save any criticism for once, to yourselves.

Why do drivers quickly swerve back and forth when there's a caution?

I could go on about the answer all day. The reason is because they wanna get all the dirt of there tyres so they are clean for the restart, but more importantly its to keep temperature in them. Racing tyres preform best if they are over 90C. At this temp they can grip the track well with no under steer. If the tyres are cold on the other hand if there is a corner approaching almost straight after the restart and the tyres are not warm enough, the car could go into under steer and that's how some accidents happen because racing engineers are not letting their drivers know if there tyres are prepared for racing conditions. it was really old i remember playing it back when windows 3.1 was new aand all i remember it that it was on floppy disk, involved a yellow mouse and a blue cat...it cleary had Tom and Jerry in mind and basically you made the level around them...you would start with just a white background and you had many items to choose from...if the blue cat saw the yellow mouse he would chse him...so for instance you had stuff like ramps and spikes etc and banana skins and you put them into this white background to create a scenario if you will. it was an awesome game but sadly i was only like 12 thenso i cant remember its name...thats all i remember...a fat blue cat and a skinny yellow mouse. Advice or kind words about owning a dog, please?

Some background info first; I own a bull mastiff/great dane. He is ten months old and about 90 lbs and he is very well trained. I live in a decent sized three bedroom duplex that my fiancee and I bought. He works afternoons, 2 to 10, I work part time as a deck hand on a dog friendly boat, so Logan (my dog) is rarely alone. But I have been put down many times by people telling my that I am an irresponsible dog owner because Logan is a rescue from a dog fighting ring and is very scarred up. Ive been told he needs to be put down, he is going to kill someone, etc. All by strangers. He loves babies, is scared of cats (and spiders) and is very gentle when he plays with my moms chihuahuas, all under 10 lbs. I guess I just want advice on what to do when people say that. hi jesse m, when you first enter in the usmc you had to be able to do twenty-five pushups fourty situp in fourty seconds and run a mile in half in twenty minutes or you go to the fats platoon. but then the marines were nuts they work you out for punishment but the army or the navy and airforce not that many. But the exercise is the least of the problem it is being away from home that is the big deal you are away from efverything and everybody that you know and i found that sometimes that can be a blessing especially if you have a family like mine. but when i was in i met a bunch of good guy's while i was in there but do what you are told when they tell you what to do and you will be alright.

What can i do if i feel overwhelmed while taking care of my dad with cancer?

i moved into my dads house with my 2 kids and last september we found out that he has inoperable cancer. i quit my job to take care of him and have been doing so since then. i also have 2 brothers one thats incarcerated and the other lives 1 hour away. now i take my dad to dr appts. well simply everywhere. but sometimes i need to spend time with my kids or i might even want to have some me time. a couple hours thats all, but when i try my dad calls my brother and says things like i know she hates me and she wont even come to see if im dead or alive.{ just let me say this, he is not incapacitated he can still do things for himself and every morning he goes to the neighbors house and has coffee} then i get frustrated and me and my brother start yelling and agruing about the things my dad tells him. thats when my brother takes it upon himself to call this meeting between the 3 of us and makes me the bad guy. ive told him that when he starts helping me with him ,then tell me. please help!

i would check the coil spring on the inside of the pull start. check to see if the INSIDE end of the spring is secure to the housing and does not move when the cord is pulled out from the housing. the spring should coil up tighter when the cord is pulled. then check to see and make sure the OUTSIDE end of the spring is secure to housing. if they are both anchored to the housing firmly, the your one-way bearing may the culprit. it is designed to spin freely in one direction on the crankshaft and "grab" the other way.

i recently moved. i brought my computer with me and i have a similar set up as i did at my other house. that being a cable internet service on a wireless network through a router. i have full internet browsing capabilities but i can't log into AOL instant messenger. sometimes it goes through "1. connecting...2. verifiying name and pword" but it never gets to 3 and it gives me an error message saying the AIM service cannot be reached. the network i'm on is currently unsecured but i cant imagine it has anything to do with it. could that also make my internet run slower than usual...because it is running pretty slow. any thoughts or advice on this would help a ton!

Okay. I am 13 almost 14 years old. Im about 5'4. This might be a shocker but im 180 pounds. I do not look like it but i am. I wear a 12 in jeans and people always call me names like shamoo and fatt *** and it really hurts. I eat pretty healthy. I play lacrosse at the moment and i am a d wing so i run the whole entire field. We do a lot of running at practice. I just finished a weight training program i did before school. I am pretty musucual..i squat 195 and bench 115. I do not get why i weigh so much. Last year i didn't do really any sports because i had achilles tendonitis and plantar faciitas. That made it difficult to run or even walk. But this year i did cheerleading (which we did a lot of runnign and exercising) and the weight training which we did conditioning fridays and 200 abs every monday and wednesday and now lacrosse. Why am i not loosing weight?

Why can't I for my girlfriend?

1991 200 Mercury Outboard Stalls In Idle & In Idle Speed. Please Help!?

Hello all. I have a 1991 200 Mercury Outboard. It stalls in neutral/extremely low idle. Without touching throttle, the boat de-accelerates and chugs and then eventually goes back to its normal speed (still without touching throttle). We were thinking it might be the fuel pump or fuel filter, but we are not positive. Do you think that you could help point us in the right direction?

I don't think you have a canker sore. You said that you popped it but canker sores are ulcers, not bubble-like lesions. Also, canker sores hurt and you only mentioned it being annoying but not painful. Canker sore usually last 2 weeks max so I think it might be something else. It could be a clogged salivary gland which releases a clear liquid when popped but it tends to heal and get clogged again. It might not be life-threatening but you may need to go to an oral surgeon to remove the entire gland if you don't want it to keep reoccurring.

8 mo. old baby not interested in feeding...?

My girl is a little over 8 mo. and in the last week it has been increasingly more difficult to nurse her. She has always been very distracted and we got into a pattern of nursing laying down on a bed which worked very well for over a month and now she just pushes me away and cries. I've been pumping and giving her milk in a cup with a straw which she literally chugs but she just won't nurse. The only successful nursing session we have is before bed. She has begun teething in the last couple weeks but it doesn't really seem to bother her except for some mild fussiness and night waking every few days. Should I just keep pumping and using a cup? It seems I can't pump enough milk and I'm concerned she's not getting enough liquid nutrition. Any suggestions from other nursing moms? Is it possible she's weaning herself? She eats really well and has 3 meals a day and seems very happy but I'm getting so frustrated and it's awful! Just looking to hear what others think and any similar stories. Thanks!

I've liked this woman for a long time, and she found out about a year ago. She is biual but clearly was not interested, even though I am too shy and scared to talk to her. Looking back, she made a special effort to be extra nice too me, probably in order to feel like a decent person. But in hindsight I think it was killing her to be so kind when I clearly disgust her. Sewing experts! I want to lengthen a T-Shirt by adding a faux layer. How would I do this?

I just bought a new shirt - unfortunately it was only available in small. It fits me fine except for being about 1-2 inches too short. I really like the shirt and want to make it long enough to wear. It's a black babydoll style T-Shirt (hence being way too short!) and I want to add a strip of fabric to the bottom hem and possibly the sleeves to make it look like one of those "faux" layered shirts. I am thinking either dark red/maroon or gray to be the color of the "layer" part. Would I just buy this as fabric from the fabric store, or would it be easier to buy a thrift store shirt in this color that already has the bottom hemline and then just cut off the bottom and sleeve ends to use as the layers? Also, I know virtually nothing about sewing. Is there some sort of iron-on type of material that could be used for a project like this? Thanks in advance for any help/tips!

Would teleportation destroy the person?

Imagine this; it is 50 years in the future from now. Teleportation has been made, machines can now officially teleport you from place to another. When the machine actually teleports the person, it would be copying the person, deleting the person and then recreating that person somewhere else. Situation: Sense the first of the month we have had snow dumped on us and it put us out of work for a week causing delays in our supplies for work as well as money to be made and making stress go through the roof. yeah I feel you. I get frustrated with trying to get by all the time, just like my whole family does really. While I know that there are rich "fatcats" out there that will stay rich, even through such a depression, at least relatively rich. I wouldn't mind going back to some basic society at times, sort of like the one dreamed of in Fight Club. But ultimately, I think the society will be fine, there is just too much panic in the media. As I understand the "economy" cannot simply crash because of the stock markets. This country is a powerhouse of production worldwide, and we can't forget that. We are still growing in terms of economy every year in fact, we produce more all the time. The only problem is that the rate at which we grow has been receding, hence the term "recession". This doesn't mean that our country is literally shrinking in money or power, but that we simply aren't growing like we think we should. So fantastically speaking, yeah I wouldn't mind some sort of anarchist/agricultural apocalypse in the U.S., but realistically speaking its just business as usual, minus extravagant real estate deals.
