My ex only wants someone to fool around with?

okay, me and this guy were dating a year ago, and i screwed him over. we got back together and he ended up screwing me over. in december, we started talking again, he came over and although he was talking to someone we started to fool around but i told him i wanted us to be together, and he said it was just "to hard" so we quit talking. and about a week ago i texted him and told him happy birthday, we started talking and he said he wanted to talk cuz its been so long. i got a new camaro and he asked if i'd take him for a ride in it and i was like yeah. he said "you drive ill buy us ice cream" which seems like a cute date, but i wasn't sure if that's what he meant it to be. we kept talking, and we've been talking for like a week straight texting basically all day. he said if i'd let him drive it, he said he'd do anything. and i said he didn't have to do anything for me he said well i'd owe you something, so i said we could go to the movies? and he said sounds good. he was texting me last night n he randomly said so i might come see you tonight:) and he came out, but he'd been drinkin at a friends he wasn't completely wasted, we just watched a movie then i started to "Tease" him, and we started making out but he stopped. and when he left he asked me why i started that becuz he doesn't wanna get anything started, hes not "doing relationships" but when he was here, he was talking about keeping his phone on incase anyone important calls him, but he said oh i don't mean a girl. and he was sayin he's alot different than he used to be, and we were talking about the night before becuz he texted me like 5 times after my phone died, and he usually doesn't do that. he said well i wanted to talk to you, n i was like i'm sure u have plenty of girls to talk to and he said sure, but i wanted to talk to you. not them. and it just seems like he was wanting something more, then i said he didn't wanna start anything? i think he just wants to fool around. but idk i'm so confused. i don't wanna bother him about relationships then lose him again idk what to do.
