The Body of Christ..Is the Church of Jesus just spritual, or invisible, or is it also an earthly organization?

If everything is just spiritual, then we are left to our own individualistic devices to determine who is, and who is not, of the faith, and therefore accurate according to our own interpretation of the Bible. Or, if someone does look to a physical succession of leaders for moral and doctrinal imperatives, that succession cannot go any further than a few hundred years; i.e., unless they are Catholic. Individualism is a term used to describe a moral, political, or social outlook that stresses human independence and the importance of individual self-reliance and liberty. Could it be that the way in which I we view the "Body of Christ" as strictly invisible is more an outcropping of our ardent individualism here in the United States than a true definition of Christ’s Church? And to lend credence to such individualism, we use the Bible as the stamp of authority. Christianity in modern America has become the Wild West of Christendom. How many different churches are there today?
