I agree. One clear example was the Subic Scam in which a filipina falsely accused an American Marine of for unconfirmed reasons. Even though every single person I talked to knew that it was a scam and knew that this type of scam was extremely common people in general felt obligated to show public support for the woman. This was exacerbated by the media and the whole country rallied against America and this Marine even though they all knew deep in their hearts that she was lying the whole time. Even after she recanted after she was paid by the Marine the whole country still supported her. The end result was an innocent American Marine spent 3 years of his life confined and had the potenial to spend his whole life in prison. That is one clear example that I see people defending, ignoring, hiding the blatantly obvious problems of the country.
